Hi, I’ve been working in this area for awhile, but feel like I’m still finding my feet. Over the years I’ve done all sorts of things, including lots of undergraduate teaching in English literature, gender studies and cultural studies, then I worked as an English language teacher with international students preparing to enter Australian universities, and always alongside that I’ve worked as an academic editor. What looks like a rather messy career path has finally come together in my current job with Researcher Education and Development at the University of Adelaide. The driver for my work with research students and their supervisors is making sure that today’s PhD candidates get the information I wish I’d had as a student. It’s a fabulous job, working with really smart students who are keen to be there and catch onto new ideas quickly – deeply satisfying!
